Compassionate Caregivers Here to Serve You

What started as a small community of practitioners has turned into a home care staffing agency committed to serving you. At Tri-County Care, we provide high-quality home care services to clients in the Clayton, Delaware, and Dubuque County areas of Iowa. Since 2017, we have provided clients with all the resources they need to improve their quality of life.

As parents grow older, it is natural to worry about how they will get along from day to day. This is especially true as they become more feeble and forgetful, making them more vulnerable to accidents and injuries. It becomes more evident that they need senior care. As a responsible son or daughter, you may want to take care of the problem yourself, but often this isn’t practical or even possible. So what should you do to make sure that your elderly mom or dad gets the care they need?

Traditionally, the solution to this situation has been for your elderly loved one to go to a nursing home, but more and more people are now opting for in-home care instead. Many have realized that there are greater benefits to home care than to have elderly parents live in a nursing home. You may also experience a short-term disability yourself and need in-home care services for just a short period of time. Whatever the case, here are some reasons why you may need Tri-County Care in your home:

  • You can be sure that a home caregiver will give you or your parent the one-on-one attention they need. The focus of the caregiver will always be on them. That’s often not true in nursing homes, where seniors generally outnumber the caregivers, leading them to “wait their turn” for attention.

  • You and/or your loved one will feel more comfortable staying at home than moving to a nursing home. A nursing home simply doesn’t feel “right,” no matter how homey the health aides there try to decorate the place. There’s no substitute for the comfort of a favorite chair or the view from a favorite window at home. Relocating can be very stressful, but with in-home care, you retain these familiar comforts.

  • Studies have confirmed that seniors who stay at home tend to live longer than those who live in nursing homes. Additionally, those who stay at home tend to be physically and mentally healthier compared to the residents of nursing homes. This has become especially true during the COVID-19 pandemic, when those in care facilities have been unable to see or touch their loved ones from home for extended periods.

  • Home care promotes the healing process. Research studies have shown that patients can recuperate and heal faster and much more comfortably when they are at home, compared to staying in a hospital or a nursing home. There’s also less chance of needing hospital services again when their recovery process is at home.

  • Home caregivers can customize their services and attention to the needs of you or your elderly parents. They can tailor their care, such as for parents suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. This contrasts sharply with the generic “one size fits all” approach that most caregivers offer in nursing homes. With home care, we recognize that not all seniors need the same kind of attention and care. Care plans are individually created to suit your loved one's specific needs.

  • With a home caregiver, you or your loved one can also enjoy the freedom and independence that they’re unwilling to give up. You or your parents can set the rules and even go out to visit friends and socialize. In nursing homes, this may not be possible. Many nursing homes have restrictive rules, and friends and family may have to visit only at certain times. At home, family and friends can drop by at any time they want. You or your loved one can be driven by caregivers to the supermarket, doctor's appointments, or the homes of friends and family.

  • At home, you/your parents can enjoy meals that they actually like. Nursing homes prepare food for large numbers of people, and sometimes the food may not be to your liking. You can also ensure that the food your parents eat is properly prepared, tasty, and nutritious.

Trying to decide between at-home care and a care facility is a big decision for families and their loved ones. It may turn out that in-home care is the best choice! Tri-County Care is a locally-owned, trusted home care agency that offers high-quality, compassionate senior in-home care services including home care assistance, personal care/shower aid, companion care, respite care, as well as homemaker services. We also work in conjunction with your local hospice agency to provide 24-hour end-of-life care. Although considered non-medical by state regulation, all our staff, at minimum, have their Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certificate. We have an on-staff medication aide to work with your physician and pharmacy for all your medication needs.

Tri-County Care has worked alongside your local hospitals, physicians, therapists, and hospice agencies such as Regional Medical Center, Above and Beyond, St. Croix, Crossing Rivers, Stone Hill Assisted Living, The Good Neighbor Home and Meadows, Millennium Therapy, and more to help provide and assure the best care for your loved ones while keeping them in their homes.

Our fees for service start at just $22/hour for standard care and $25/hour for hospice care assistance, 7 days a week. There are no added charges for weekend care. We do have a holiday rate of $27/hour for the 7 standard holidays in a calendar year. We keep our rates as low as possible to try and give clients the affordability to have home care as an option. If you would like to schedule an in-person meeting to discuss our services and address any of your questions or concerns, please call us any time, 24 hours a day, at 563-929-1966.
